I have been passionate about motor racing since 1967. Back then I started out in the Formula V ( single seated monoposto with a 1300ccm VW Beetle-engine). As early as one year and five placements on the podium later I obtained my international licence. However, in 1970 I had to quit this sport due to career changes. But, this "bug" had only taken a really long nap when it eventually woke up again in 2006.
It began with cautious rides in a RILEY TT SPRITE SPECIAL and first successes (winner of its category at the MG Racing Days in Ahlhorn (GER). Then, in 2010, I purchased the RILEY "THE RAT" a well-raced Special - 1936 model (engine 4cyl/1.5l, ca. 102 HP, 7000 revs/min, Wilson “close ratio”-box). "The Rat" is known to be one of the fastest and most successful VSCC-Sports-Specials of all time. The drivers Barrie Gillies, Ted Dunn and Pete Candy won over 200 races with "The Rat" in the category of cars of up to 1550ccm, a couple of times the Historic Racing Trophy and they all hold various lap records until today.
On the Hangar Strait racing track in Silverstone a maximum speed of 116,2 mph was measured. After comprehensive restoration works in the winter of 2010/2011, so far, I have steered the wheel of the "Rat" in quite a few races with changing success ? e.g., the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix (DK), the Oldtimer Grand Prix at Nürburgring (GER), Mallory Park (UK), Hamburger Stadtpark Revival (GER) and many more.
